I updated my TT file to generate a new 8962 after a 12C request from IRS. Not for a complete filing. TT now seems to take this update as reference for the amendment. I need this update to be the amendment.

See this TurboTax support FAQ for instructions when you have received a letter 12C from the IRS - https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/tax-forms/got-12c-letter-irs-form-8962/L78Qyi5gK_US_en_US?uid=lu8vvey2

I think what you mean is you amended your return to generate a Form 8962 per the request from the IRS on a 12C notice you received from them. If you read the notice, it will mention you just need to submit the forms they requested, not an amended return. So, you need to print out the Form 8962 and mail or fax that to the IRS per the instructions on the notice you received, along with anything else they requested. If your refund or tax due changed as a result of preparing the Form 8962, send a copy of the second page of your form 1040 with the Form 8962.

Hi ThomasM125

Thank you for your quick response. You are on the right track.

I filed with TT and expected refund (let's say $1000).

Then received 12C notice and used TT to enter 1095A and generate Form8962.

(I did not amend, just update TT)

I sent the Forms 8962 and 1095A to IRS and received original refund (let's say $1000).

However, the updated TT was showing that I am now owed a larger refund (let's say $2000)

Now I want to amend my filing, but TT amendment is using the updated data (for the Form8962 generation) and calculates $0 refund, because is is assuming that I filed the update with the $2000 refund.

(I did not file the update with the $2000 refund, only used it to generate Form8962).

Is there a way to revert to the original filing ? Or do I need to manually enter the  (let's say $1000) already received refund ? Or any other way to get the correct data in (other than complete restart) ?
