How do I file for a refund for my tax prep?

I was filing my taxes for 2020 and got charged for tax prep before I got to actually file. When I went to log in the next day, my entire filing information got erased out. I checked several times. Essentially, I paid for absolutely nothing. I ended up filing taxes through another service that didn't charge me for the prep. How do I submit a request for that charge to get credited back to my account?

Ok ... you are posting from a downloaded program ... so did you use that program ? Or did you log in online to complete a return forgetting you bought the downloaded version ? If you tell us what you did maybe we can help you or you can help yourself.

You probably tried to log in to the wrong account---which is common. Lots of people start TurboTax accounts and forget how to access them. You can try having a discussion with customer support about the billing---but usually if you went far enough in the software to pay for online TurboTax, you cannot get a refund from TT.

Customer support is available from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. Pacific time Monday-Friday.

No one in the user forum can resolve a billing issue. If you have a question about your TurboTax fees or billing, make sure you use the word “billing” in your request for help. Do not use the word “refund.”
