You can check your E-file status here: online e-file status lookup tool. This will show if your return is still pending or if the IRS has now accepted your tax return.

Also, when you e-file you get back 2 emails.  The first email only confirms the transmission.  The second email says if the IRS (or state) Accepted or Rejected your e-file.

When you log into your account you should also see the status and if it was Accepted or Rejected, Started, Printed, Ready to Mail, etc.

Once your return shows "Accepted by the IRS, wait 24-48 hours before checking your status on the IRS website. For the most up to date information on your refund, you can track your federal refund here: Where's My Refund? which provides your status and a specific, personalized date for your tax refund once it is available.  You may also download the IRS2Go app to check your Federal refund status.
