Super annoyed that Intuit (TurboTax) asks me 'why do you want to view your tax records' and requires me to watch silly commercials when logging in.  Would like to shop around for a different tax prep service - how can I migrate past years records to a new preparation service?

When you select a tax prep software that is to your liking you will have to ask them if/how to transfer your  tax data to their software.  We cannot advise you on how other tax programs will work.  When you move your 2019 tax file into the new 2020 TurboTax software is it called a "transfer" and you have to do that at the very beginning before you enter any other 2020 data.

If you can you should use the Downloaded version instead  to avoid all the issues you don't like ... you only need to use the Deluxe version (Basic if you don't need a state return)   OR  if you are eligible you could use one of the IRS FREE FILE options ...

2020 TURBOTAX

CD/DOWNLOAD (This requires a full PC or Mac—-cannot be used on a mobile device)

You can also purchase the CD/download from various retailers such as Costco, Amazon, Walmart, Best Buy, Staples, Sam’s Club, etc. etc. etc.

If you qualify  AND   if you wait until mid January  THEN you can use one of  the 10 IRS FREE FILE options to file a fed & state return for free ... but you must be patient.    https://www.irs.gov/filing/free-file-do-your-federal-taxes-for-free
