How do I pay for deluxe with my refund after amending my return

You cannot do that. There should not be a fee to amend unless you upgraded from Free Edition to Deluxe when you amended. If you are getting a refund for an amended return the IRS mails a check to the address on your tax return. Your fee cannot be deducted from that.

If you want to wait until sometime in November and amend then, it should not cost you anything even if you upgrade. You have three years to amend a tax return.
