If your direct deposit information was incorrect for your federal tax refund, the bank will reject the deposit and return the federal tax refund to the IRS.  The IRS will mail a refund check to the address you entered on your tax return.

If the account number that you entered on your tax return is not a valid account, the bank will reject the direct deposit and the IRS will mail a check to the address on your tax return.

If the account number that you entered on your tax return is a valid account, but not your account, your refund may be deposited into the account that you specified. Some banks check the name on the account, but many don't.

If the IRS has not yet issued your refund, you might be able to stop the direct deposit by calling the IRS at 800-829-1040. They will then mail a check to you.
