Question

How do you get turbotax to reflect edits you made to schedules (in my case schedule d), after I originally submitted it and finally had a chance to look it.

While I see my changes took on the input side, the IRS forms don't reflect them. Very frustrating!!

What did you do?  Did you e-file and then make changes to your return?  Those changes did not go anywhere.  They did not go to the IRS.  The return you e-filed originally is what the IRS has.   You need to restore your information to exactly the way it was when it was originally e-filed.  If you amend using a Form 1040X---which is the correct way to make changes ---you have to be able to work from the return exactly as it appeared when it was e-filed.

Wait until your original return has been fully processed before you amend, and make sure you have saved a pdf of the original return before you amend. (If you do not save it as a pdf, the amended return will overwrite the original, and the original will be lost forever)

Do not expect quick results from amending. It can take four months or more for the IRS to process an amended return.
