I filed for the electric return Feb 13th and after 4 days I got the generic message on WMR site that said please contact IRS .. I called the IRS an she told me that a letter would be mailed to me an she read what the letter said so I already knew that it was for identity verification . As I also had to do the identity verification last year .. They said Most likely I would receive the letter on my original expecting deposit date an that was supposed to be the 20th March . On March 16th I got the Paper it was a 5071C identity verification . They posted on the paper that they sent it to me on March 13th .. I had to wait to verify my identity until that Monday 3/18 with success of verifing .. I checked WMR web page everyday between 12am an 6am .. an on March 23rd at 3:30am I checked the site again and my bars was back with an expected DDD ( Direct Deposit Date ) of March 27th an no later then April 1st .. So glad I didn't have to wait the whole 9 weeks they was talking . Last year I had alot of issues verifing when I filed in Feb an I didn't get a check until August 17th .. They had to send me a paper check .. Hope everyone gets there money asap . Just wanted to let everyone know my story in hopes it helps . I verified my identify March 18th and was told that I would have to wait 9 weeks. I checked WMR site everyday since then and no updates. But I checked yesterday (April 30th) and it's showing that it's being processed so I hope I'll be getting my funds soon. This is the first that I ever filed my taxes and had to verify my identity.

I verified myself march 15th and it said “We received your tax’s returns and it is being processed” for the past week and a half. But I was hoping the samething but they are really making people struggle waiting. While if we owe them they’ll garnish our wages after one month. Smh

I filed in late Feb, maybe early march and received a message stating i was approved. Fast forward May 10, I received a 5071C letter stating I had to verify my identity. Need I remind you, this exact same thing had happened to my mother weeks before. I was finally able to verify May 23, 2019 because i had to purchase my previous tax returns from turbo enable to verify. After confirming, they told me on the phone the WMR website should update with a DDD within 9 weeks. my 7th week will be in 2 days, on July 11. I'm kind of upset reading that someone above confirmed almost two weeks after me and didnt even take 2 weeks before getting a DDD. Also, I vented on my social media a few weeks ago and more than half of my friends stated they had to verify their identity also. But I never checked back in with any of them to see if they'd received them yet because i don't like people knowing about my money issues. Only reason i'm putting it on here is because 9/10 no one one here knows me lol.

@Sheldon918 give them all call you might be in the same situation as me. When I called today again I was told that my verification is fully completed after talking to someone else who establish my account yesterday. It may be that your verification isn't completed fully. When I go to WMR I now get this message "We're sorry but you have exceeded the number of daily attempts allowed.

Information is updated every 24 hours, usually overnight, so you only need to check once a day. Please try again tomorrow."

I know when I was awaiting my first 9 weeks from May 7 every day I checked on WMR and it was the same message until my account got to establish and gave me i checked too much message lol. when I checked twice today. Just call them hun.

i'll give that a try later today. Last time i called was about 3 weeks ago and they said they had all the info i needed and to continue waiting. i need to change my way of direct deposit anyways so fingers crossed lol.

I filed on the 5th of June recieved a letter a month later and verified my identity yesterday July 9th . The lady told me it should take up to 9 weeks but would anyone know if it could be less if its not tax season???? I need answers.

@Antlobo247 Its possible you can get yours early as well. It all depends on them. I suggest you call them and double check if your verification is fully completed. Because when I went in person on May 7 to verify my identity I thought it was done and waited 9 weeks for no refund until I called the day before and was informed my verification was not completed fully. The rep had fully completed my file and resubmitted now I'm redoing all 9 weeks until I found out I am in "luck" that I may get it this Friday or no later than September 9th. If it been completed fully then hopefully soon instead of the full 9 weeks but it's up to them love.

Update: this is my ninth week, I just got off the phone with a person and was told " I understand it's your ninth week, but technically your nine weeks aren't up until Thursday and it's only Tuesday. We go by days not weeks, so it's nine weeks from that day, not in general. So I would call us back in two days. And just to give it time to continue processing I'd call back Monday." like what? It's been nine weeks and you want it to continue processing? This is RIDICULOUS. so FYI everyone, when they say 9 weeks it could literally be nine weeks.

@Sheldon918I think they just being lazy and laying around.Its so stressful and annoying waiting for months smh. Hopefully you get good news.

@tieraleonardright!!!!!!! Im with you on that. they need to just give people their refund because dreading on it is so ughhhhh. I am ready for mines but im going to keep positive until then. Again I still got We have received your tax return and it is being processed. -______-

I filed on April 11 accepted on 13th April

bars disappeared on 16th was told they need to check something in my 2

w2 on July 28 was send a id verification letter verified identity on 4th August. Was told 9 weeks wait today on 8th August my

bars are back up with DD 12 August could be sooner I guess

To all who post or follow this thread ... the IRS is not being lazy they are just very understaffed due to the yearly budget cuts and the new processing they have to do like all these ID verifications which actually has greatly reduced the income tax fraud which is saving the american taxpayers billions in fraudulent refunds.

Now if everyone will reach out to their congressperson and demand the IRS be better funded so that they can do the overwhelming job they have to do then maybe something will get done. I always thought it was interesting that the one real source of income for the US government has its budget cut every year and the workload increased ( IE recent form changes & tax law changes) but congress can spend money faster than the IRS can bring it in. For instance, for every auditor the IRS has they bring in $10 of tax money for every $1 it costs to employ them ... great rate of return on investment but the congress doesn't see it.

I filled on 1/27 received I’d verification letter on 3/7 which was Saturday I will call tomorrow to do my verification. I pray it doesn’t take 9 weeks😩

After verification, the IRS estimates 60 days before your return will be processed.
