How long does it usually take for an amended tax return to be processed? I read that the website said 3 weeks to show it is being processed and an additional 16 weeks to receive the amended return. Ho

Amended returns have taken 16 weeks or more to process after you have mailed them in ... this year it seems like it is taking longer ... check the IRS site https://www.irs.gov/filing/wheres-my-amended-return

And if you are getting a refund from the amended return, they mail you a check--no direct deposits for refunds for amended returns.
