How long is it taking the IRS to open mailed in tax returns?

I filed my tax by mail. It was delivered to the IRS on 3/8/21 (verified by certified mail receipt) - that was 8 weeks ago. I get no status info when I check "Where's MY Refund" on the IRS website - not even a "Return Received" notice Should I resend a copy of the tax return to the IRS?

@rjs is right on the money. Per the IRS:

It’s taking us longer to process mailed documents including:

Paper tax returns, and
All tax return related correspondence.

We are processing all mail in the order we received it.

Do not file a second tax return or call the IRS.

Expect extended delays if you mailed your return.

Do not send another copy of your tax return to the IRS. That will just cause problems. They are severely backlogged, but eventually they will process the tax return that you filed.
