How to amend a specific tax (family member's) return?

I use Turbo Tax Deluxe to prepare individual returns for my family members (there are multiple tax return files for Turbo Tax Deluxe 2021 - 2022).   I need to amend one of theirs which was already e-filed and processed (after 8 weeks!), not mine.

When I log into my online account per the Help Instructs on "How do I amend my 2021 return" (https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/amending/help/how-to-amend-change-or-correct-a-return-you-already-filed/00/25588"

the system says that "I" haven't filed yet (which is true for "me").

How can I amend a specific tax file/return ?

You can go back into your return and walk through the steps to Amend Your Return  and enter your W2-C to see the affect on your return.  When your employer did the corrected W2 it was sent to the IRS, so they now have the correct amount reported to them.

If too much was withheld, you should have had a warning in TurboTax before you filed  your original return to not file, but to contact your employer for a corrected W-2

Social Security taxes are generally only reported with your return when you are self-employed as part of your self-employment taxes or when you tell TurboTax that your employer did not withhold enough social security taxes. TurboTax does not automatically calculate or report an underpayment of social security taxes based on your W2 entries.  You would have to enter it on form 8919 which would then go to your schedule 2 which would then go on line 23 of your 1040.

Again, you can go back and take the steps to  Amend Your Return , to be sure there is no change.  If there is no change, you will just need to delete the 1040X and log out without e-filing your amended return.  You may be able to still submit it via e-file, but you may get a warning that says there is no changes do you still want to amend.

"If you discover an error after filing your return, you may need to amend your return. The IRS may correct mathematical, clerical errors on a return and may accept returns without certain required forms or schedules. In these instances, there's no need to amend your return. However, do file an amended return if there's a change in your filing status, income, deductions, credits or tax liability. " Topic 308

Which TurboTax program did you use for the 2021 tax returns?

The TurboTax web based online editions or the TurboTax desktop CD/Download editions installed on a personal computer?

Then you will have to start the 2021 TurboTax program and Continue the 2021 tax return for the family member's return that was completed.

Click on Federal Taxes

Click on Other Tax Situations

Scroll down to Other Tax Forms

On Amend a Return, click the start button

If you used the desktop CD/Download editions installed on your computer, the only copy of your tax data file and any PDF's will be on the computer where the return was created.  TurboTax does not store online any returns completed using the desktop editions.

Good Morning!

It is my first time doing the Amend Tax 1040-X. I received a W-2c Corrected Wage and Tax Statement to correct Social Security Tax Withheld.

Does this mean I need to change the Previously Reported Social Security Tax Withheld to the Correct Social Security Tax Withheld only?

Also, does this mean that I need to do a 502-X since I need to do a 1040-X?

The program I have is the TurboTax Desktop Home and Business Tax Year 2020 MAC Download with State.

Thank you!
