Question

How to confirm the IRS has my direct deposit info for stimulus?

Background: I filed my 2018 taxes (no direct deposit). My 2019 taxes were filed with a direct deposit but were rejected due to "someone already claimed my dependent". Unfortunately, no one had claimed the dependent but I now have to mail in my return to dispute and find out why this error occurred.

Will the IRS have my direct deposit information even though the 2019 taxes were rejected?

Do I need to create a new account for the direct deposit information?

According to the IRS:

The IRS does not have my direct deposit information. What can I do?

In the coming weeks, Treasury plans to develop a web-based portal for individuals to provide their banking information to the IRS online, so that individuals can receive payments immediately as opposed to checks in the mail.
