How to file a 1040X online with TT software

I need to file a 1040X as I forgot to include form 8962 (Premium Tax Credit).  For the life of me I cannot find how to do this.  I have my return in front of me that was accepted by the IRS with the 8962 added and the additional tax I owe calculated into the total.  I read where the 1040X only needs to include a) the 1040X itself, b) additional form (in this case 8962), and c) the additional tax owed.  Any help is greatly appreciated.  Note:  when I log into the TT web site all I get is filling out a new return.  I go to my profile and there is nothing about a) what I already filed and b) how to amend the return.

Thank you

This will help give guidance on how you can get the 8962

I got a 12C letter from the IRS (Form 8962)

Thank you.  I should also note that I did indicate correctly for my first submission of the 1040 that I went through the Market Place for healthcare.  The return was not accepted as the 8962 form was not included.  I submitted a second time saying that I did NOT go through the Market Place.  This was a mistake but the return was of course accepted.  I'm guessing that since the IRS has a copy of my 1095-A that this will elicit a 12C.  Does the Community concur with this guess?

That's a pretty good guess, yes.  You can wait for the letter from the IRS and reply to it directly.  While the advertised processing of 1040X is "up to 16 weeks" we are currently seeing MUCH longer processing times, even for electronically submitted amendments (it is possible to e-file 1040X, though not 100% of the time).

The IRS may (and likely will) send you the notice while the amendment is still pending, which creates a mess.

If you've not heard from the IRS within a few months, then I would proceed with amending the return.  But I'd give time for the 12C to get to you first.

Ok, I believe that filing a 1040X online is NOT possible and there is a reason why the TT web site guidance is to just wait for the IRS to contact you about the missing 8962.  Processing a 1040X can take up to 16 weeks.  So you basically wait for the 12C from the IRS that tells you that you've been remiss, correct?
