Here's how to obtain copies of a prior year return(s) you filed in TurboTax Online:

Sign into your TurboTax account (if not already)
Click on My TurboTax (click on My Tax Timeline in the drop down menu)
Scroll down where is says "Prior Year Return(s)" click on Load My Tax Timeline
On the Tax Timeline screen, click the tax year you need
On the right side, select Download/print return (PDF) (if you just need a printout)

If you don't see your tax year listed, you may have multiple accounts. https://myturbotax.intuit.com/account-recovery/

SAVE YOUR TAX RETURN !

EVERY year before mid-October you should save a copy of your tax return as a pdf and print a copy of it for your records. That way you will not be searching online frantically when you need it for a lender, FAFSA forms, your next tax return, etc.

One important factor in getting past returns: You DO NOT HAVE TO PAY AGAIN! Go to the account you filed with in the past year, sign in and start a return, until you get to the section that says "let's get you registered" continue through registration. Once that is done you will be able to access your past year's return through My Documents, or Print Center under Tools

When I select 2018 and then try to click any of my tax documents from that year, I get this screen -- even though 2020 was not selected. I need to access 2018 documents.

cool-- that didn't answer the question at all. I took all of those steps and got the screenshot provided. The problem is the system is not recognizing that I'm asking for 2018 and have clicked 2018.
