Question

How to print page 2 of form 1116 with TT desktop 2023 Windows?

I have 2 copies of Form 1116 (foreign tax credit). TT 2023 prints the 2 pages on the first Form 1116, but only the first page of the second Form 1116.

The second page of the second Form 1116 is necessary since it includes Part III Figuring the Credit. TT shows this information in Forms view, but does not print it - very odd.  It worked fine with TT desktop 2022.

you can try saving the file all forms and worksheets as a pdf and then open the PDF to see if you can print just those pages needed.

What I've tried so far:

 - print the return using the step-by-step flow => no page 2 for "Form 1116 (COPY 2)"

 - in Forms in My Return, print everything, including all worksheet => no page 2 for "Form 1116 (COPY 2)"

 - in Forms in My Return, print only the Form 1116 => same

 - in Forms in My Return, print only the Form 1116 (COPY 2) => same

BTW, I have not filed this return yet. The "After you file" category is an accident.

@bjn1234  I am not sure understand  why there is NO page 2 on only one of the form 1116.  To simulate and see why  TurboTax appears to be mis-behaving could you please give me more data -- what is covering the  1116 (copy 1) and that for  1116 ( copy 2 ). Also the magnitude  of your US source income,  Foreign Source  for #1  and # 2 forms 1116.  Are these from the same foreign country or different.

Please answer and I will come back once I hear from you

I see page 1 and page 2 of both Form 1116 in the TT Forms view. It's an odd printing / PDF generation issue.

Form 1116 (COPY 1) reports passive income, while Form 1116 (COPY 2) reports general category income, more specifically:

COPY 1: RIC + foreign partnership rental income (single country) + negative HTKO that offsets this rental income (3 columns)

COPY 2: positive HTKO that corresponds to the foreign partnership income from COPY 1 (1 column)

The RIC tax paid is like $300 and the tax I paid abroad for the foreign partnership rental income is in the order of $2,000.

@bjn1234 , thank you for your response -- negative HTKO creates some issues.  While I go through the simulation , here is a post   that may shed some light -->

Solved: Form 1116 - HTKO/negative number - TT stuck on "Any foreign source qualified dividends or long term capital gains?" - BUG? (intuit.com)
