How to retrieve .tax from 2016
I need to amend my 2016 taxes since I failed to record my foreign income, so I recently downloaded TurboTax Deluxe 2016 for the Mac. I did my 2016 taxes with TurboTax Online Free. When I open the application, it asks me a number of questions and I can't really find out where or how to download the original .tax form I filed. I think the data is reflected when I attempt to start an amendment, but I want the original 1040 form too, since I need to do a number of things to fix my taxes and file for other years.
When I log in online, and go to Your tax returns & documents > Show > 2016 > Download/print return > Download my return, it tells me, "It looks like you need to pay first to instantly access your TurboTax returns" and then says type in "Prior Tax Return" in the box on the upper-right. Any other option I select there tells me the same thing. And then when I do search "Prior Tax Return" in the help box, it tells me to do the same thing I've already been doing.
The easiest solution would be to retrieve the tax file directly from TurboTax Deluxe 2016, but I'm not sure how to do that. Can anyone help me? I'd really appreciate it!
