Question

I accidentally clicked that I was in the military when going through my moving expenses and it will not let me edit that information. How do I undo this?

Delete your moving expense form. If you have eligible moving expenses, you can re-enter them.

Here's how to delete moving expenses:

  1. Tap Tax Tools in the left column
  2. Tap Tools
  3. Select  Delete a Form in Tools Center
  4. Scroll down to Form 3903 and delete
  5. Click Continue With My Return in the lower right when you are finished

For tax years beginning after 2017, you can no longer deduct moving expenses on your federal return unless you are a member of the Armed Forces on active duty and, due to a military order, you move because of a permanent change of station.

Certain states still allow a moving expense deduction. If you enter moving expenses in the Moving Expenses, any qualified expenses will transfer to state, though you may have to enter additional information.
