Not sure what you did.   You cannot change the way you are going to receive your refund after you file your tax return.   If your refund goes to a wrong or closed bank account, then it goes back to the IRS and the IRS issues a paper check and mails it to the address on your tax return.   Amending to change a bank account is not a way to change how you want your refund.   In fact, the IRS never makes a direct deposit for an amended return.  They only mail a check when you are getting a refund for an amended return.

So-----what did you do?   Did you change anything else on your return?  Did you prepare a Form 1040X and e-file it---or mail it?   If you have somehow put an amended return into the system while the IRS is still processing your original return, you can expect that to cause confusion and delays.

My girlfriend didn’t know what she was doing, but she changed two other things aside from the address/direct deposit info… she placed numbers from unknown origins into places where we had simply checked n/a or had zeros. She never received any of her stimulus payments. She didn’t even work 2020. The original address was an hotel 8 miles from here, the amended return address is for a post office box, which is due for renewal soon. Should I keep the post office box j.I.c. ??

Put in a change of address with the IRS by mailing in a form 8822  AND have your mail forwarded from the closed PO box.
