I already received my refund, but got a 1099 MISC after the fact for about 400$, but my expenses outweighed the income. Is there a simple process, since it won't change?

I also wouldn't mind paying a fee because taxes are a bother and I'd rather just not deal with it.

You'll need to amend your tax return and add the form 1099-MISC and related expenses. Because if you did not, the IRS will find out about the missing form 1099-MISC (as they have a copy) and would tax on the full amount (with deduction of expenses).
