I am amending my 2016 return, I paid 6,414 on the original return, how do I enter that amount as "taxes" paid?

TurboTax assumes you are starting with the originally filed return, which would show the amount $6,414.
Then TurboTax would copy this onto Form 1040X.
If you didn't start with the originally filed return, it's not going to work.
