Question

I am submitting a declaration document so that my wife can be treated as a US resident for tax purposes. Do I need to submit this declaration to the state too?

I am on my H1b and my wife is on her F1 and we we want to file married filing jointly. For 2021 - I worked in two states. One state that I need to pay state tax for and the other that I do not need to pay state tax for. I am not sure what all documents I need to submit to the state that I need to file my state tax for. Do I submit all our W2 and the declaration document? or Just my W2 for that state. Thanks

You submit the W2 that has the state income and tax withheld details.

If you are taking credit for taxes paid to other states, then you submit all the W2s.

You submit the election only to IRS.
