Question

I am worried my tax refund may have an issue but haven’t received anything. IRS site says my 2020 taxes haven’t been processed. What’s that mean? Do they have them!?

I received my email they had been approved via turbo tax but when IRS says they haven’t been processed, I’m worried and can absolutely not get a live person from IRS to get more info. I haven’t received a letter from the IRS but I have an uneasy feeling as it’s been over 6 weeks now. Makes no sense. I don’t want to assume anymore that they don’t have them. Should I print my refund tax info off turbo tax and send in a paper one!? I have no idea what to do. This will likely be the first and last time I file via turbo tax. I’ve never experienced this before and has left a very uneasy feeling in my stomach. I get we are in a pandemic BUT the fact we can’t get a hold of anyone to help in more detail is what’s unsettling.

I think the email from TT said they were Accepted (received for processing), not Approved (which is a later step).  The IRS is seriously backlogged due to all the extra stimulus filings, as well as a few million unprocessed 2019 returns left over from the COVID shutdown.  In addition, the Where's My Refund site has been erratic and unreliable.  But if TT told you the IRS Accepted your filing for processing, then the government has it.   Contacting the IRS will not help, and it has implored taxpayers not to call.  Lots of other folks are still waiting, so please continue to be patient.  Also see:
