Question

I amended my 2019 state and federal returns. My state was accepted, will my payment be directly paid through my bank account? Or do I need to mail the payments in?

Since amended returns must be printed and mailed, how do you know it was accepted? TurboTax gets no information about the acceptance of mailed returns. There is no way to arrange a federal payment for an amended return on the return itself so I assume the same would be true for a state amended return. You would have to mail the payment in.

Did you actually amend your return preparing form 1040X or did you just change a return that had not yet been accepted? Change a return that has not been accepted is not amending the return.
