I did a phone interview type thing with the irs to make sure i was who i said i was... and they told me it could take up to 9 weeks for my tax return to be on my card. will it really take that long?

It is the IRS that controls the process of giving you your refund. Every taxpayer is at their mercy, so to speak. TurboTax is a private company that supplies the tax software. We have no say when it comes to the US government.

Going forward, consider changing your withholding so that you do not have to wait for a refund at tax time.
