Question

I didnt need to file a tax return but did for a stimulus payment on April 4th and it's still processing. Is that normal?

It's taking much longer than the normal 21 days for a tax return to be processed. There is a huge backlog of unprocessed returns that have not been done yet by the IRS. They are not even processing mailed returns at all at the current time.

There was a non filer portal that you could have used to register for the stimulus payment. It would have efiled a return for you with 0 income. It is too late to use it since you already filed a return.
