I filed a joint return in 2016 with my spouse. I divorced in 2017. I want to efile my Federal return. If I answer yes to the question " Did you file last year------". I have to enter the AIG on the joint return. I don't have that info. Can  I just enter NO.??

No, you cannot enter no because the IRS has on file your AGI from last year and knows you filed. Your AGI would be the same as your ex husband for last year since it was a joint return. I will post below how to find your AGI.

How to get last years' AGI:

  1. Locate it on last year's tax document

Form 1040 – Line 37

Form 1040A – Line 21

Form 1040EZ – Line 4

Form 1040NR – Line 36

Form 1040X – Line 1, Column A

      2. IRS transcript  will have your AGI listed and you can get it by visiting this linkhttps://www.irs.gov/individuals/get-transcript
