Does the message specifically say you're trying to amend the return? Or are you maybe getting a rejection notice, indicating that something needs to be fixed before you re-submit your e-filing?

BE SURE that your original return you e-filed has been accepted by the IRS. Use the info I'm linking below to check the status of your e-filed return.

How do I check my e-file status?
