Question

I ended up choosing to use a tax preparer & filed with them. TurboTax won't let me clear those files from this year & close my account with them. How can I do that ?

I filed with a preparer that I got through a friend's reccomedation, was notified of what my refund exact amount will be and recieved notice that is currentlybeing processed (3x more than what they offered under the free tax filing option with TurboTax) and the TurboTax app and website claim I cannot clear my info or close my account because of my "active" tax files with them (that I never continued to file with them and finish the process) & is only giving me the option to continue to filing, not even remove any information they already have from me. I worry that they will try to file without my consent and mess up my current processing refund with that bs.

There is no need to close your account. You can simply abandon it. No one will file your return. If it makes you feel better, you can delete forms.

Here are the steps for deleting unwanted forms in TurboTax Online:

Open your return in TurboTax. (To do this, sign in to TurboTax, and select the Take me to my return button.)

In the left side bar, select Tax Tools> Tools.

In the pop-up window Tool Center, choose Delete a form.

Select Delete next to the form/schedule/worksheet and follow the onscreen instructions.

If you don't want to complete your tax return in TurboTax Online, you can clear any data you have entered into the program as long as you haven't paid your TurboTax Online fee (or registered a cost-free version). For more information, please see: Can I delete my tax return in TurboTax Online?
