I entered the wrong amount for the first stimulus and now it says I'm owed money. How do I amend it before they send me money?

I entered $1000 less and now it says I'm owed $1000. I dont want to receive the money. Is there a way to amend my federal before they direct deposit it?

If you already submitted your tax return, there is no way to correct it before it is processed. It is possible the IRS will reject your return or change it to reflect what stimulus payments are due you. You must wait until you hear something back about the return or receive your refund before you amend the return if necessary.
