Question

I filed 2020 taxes. The Federal was amended by IRS and there was no money owed. State portion was not amended to reflect what was changed on federal how do I correct?

Before IRS amended federal - I owed.  Once they amended - I didn't owe.  But, it is the opposite with state taxes.  On original - I was given a small refund.  Now they are asking for money.  When I called they said I had to admend to match the federal and I do not know how to do this myself.  Can anyone help?

Here are the amending instructions.

Once you open your original tax return, make only the changes required by the IRS, so that the amended federal return on your computer matches the return that the IRS has on file for you.  The changes will flow "downhill" to your state tax return.  You can print the federal return for your records if you like, but don't mail it in since the IRS has already adjusted your account.  Print, sign and mail your state return, and include a check if you owe additional tax.
