Question

I filed my 2017's tax return with 1040NR form, although I was in 1040NR-EZ category. Do I have to amend that?

No, you do not have to amend the tax return. Form 1040NR-EZ is a simplified form that covers only the most common tax situations. Form 1040NR covers everything. But the simplified form is just available as a convenience. You can always use Form 1040NR, even if you are eligible to use Form 1040NR-EZ.

Okay, but do you also mean that the calculations are the same for NR and NR-EZ?

Yes, the calculations are the same. It would not make any difference if you filed Form 1040NR-EZ instead of 1040NR. Your tax would be the same. Amending would not accomplish anything, because nothing would change.
