I filed my 2021 W2 through the mail. I had used a free software from a site recommended by the IRS.gov site. How can I check refund status with the exact refund amount?

In order to check your refund status you need to know the exact amount of the refund as shown on line 35a of your Form 1040. Did you print out and keep a copy of that return for your own records?

You need your filing status, your Social Security number and the exact amount (line 35a of your 2021 Form 1040) of your federal refund to track your 2021 Federal refund:
