What is displayed when you use the IRS "Where's My Refund" tool?

    https://www.irs.gov/wheres-my-refund

    • If you efiled, be sure you have waited at least 24 hours after acceptance before using the IRS WMR tool.   If you mailed a paper return, it won't show up in the tool for at least 4 weeks or longer.
    • Be sure you enter the correct tax year, SSN, and filing status.
    • Be sure you are using only the Federal refund amount.   Do not include any state refund or any total refund or net refund (Fed and State) that TurboTax may have provided on a screen.
    • Look at your actual Federal return to get the Federal refund amount, i.e., your Form 1040, Line 35a.

Everything was excepted, 2 weeks past I received a letter to prove who I am. I complied and never heard from IRS again. The refund amount was much money and I concerned about the time TURBO TAX told me that I would receive  the refund in 21 or 26 days from filing. How long does it take, really?

IRS expects to receive monies if due or else interest and penalties are incurred. TOTAL BS!

@honuglenn1 So you had to verify your identity?   When the IRS requires you to verify your identity it can delay your refund by a couple of months.   Only the IRS is in control and only the IRS can tell you when your refund will be issued.  You can continue to watch the IRS refund site for information.  TurboTax gets no information from the IRS after you file your return.

You need your filing status, your Social Security number and the exact amount  (line 35a of your 2024 Form 1040) of your federal refund to track your Federal refund:

    https://www.irs.gov/refunds

Sometimes the IRS chooses returns randomly to request verification of identity and sometimes there is something on the return that triggers the request.  No matter why the IRS has required you to verify your identity, you need to follow their instructions in order to receive your refund.  If you do not verify your identity you will not get your refund.
