Ready to Mail means you have to actually print out your tax return and mail it to the IRS yourself. When it has ready to mail, you have not filed your return.

You can either print your return out & mail it in, or switch to e-file.

How do I change from mail to e-file in TurboTax Online?

If you printed your taxes to mail them in and went all the way through the File section, when you sign in to TurboTax Online, the Way to go! You filed your 2019 taxes you won't see a way to change to e-filing. As long as you haven't already mailed your 2019 paper return, you can switch to the e-filing method (through October 15, 2020). However, some states now require e-filing, which means the federal and state must be e-filed together.

If you already mailed your return, don't e-file. This can cause problems with the government, including refund delays.

  1. In TurboTax Online, sign into your account.
  2. Select Tax Home in the left menu.
  3. Scroll down to Your tax returns & documents.
  4. Select 2019, and then select Add a State (you're not actually adding a state, this just gets you into the right area).
  5. Select File in the left menu (expand your browser window if you don't see this, or select the menu icon in the top left corner).
  6. On the Just one more step screen, follow steps 1 and 2 if you haven't already.
  7. Select the Start button to the right of Step 3.
  1. On the Let's get ready to e-file screen, select I want to e-file.
  2. Follow the instructions to e-file your return.

Was your return accepted?  Once your return has been accepted, only the IRS would know when you will receive your refund. TurboTax does not get any information about your refund.

You can check the IRS website Where's My Refund for your Federal information?

It says it’s “ready to mail” but I finished the entire process though TurboTax, and I don’t have any oddities to my taxs, just a W2, single no kids, no assets etc... but the IRS site won’t allow me to make an account either because it says they “don’t have me documented”

Bro Trust me I'm going thru the same **bleep** RN my e-file was excepted thru hr block March 31 we (married filing jointly) got our state refund back and still not federal refund and no stimulus payment either they're talking about a second round we never got the 1st one and who can u call ?? I used the where's my refund tool used the where's my stimulus tool all it says is status unavailable. 2019 was the 1st year me and wife had ever filed together plus the 1st time either of us had filed taxes in a decade U could say we're making some positive changes. We looked back over our taxes and we mistakenly applied for a tax credit which in hind sight amjes hi sense bc tax credits are for people who make enough to owe money which we did not in 2019 so I'm thinking we have to amend our tax return. And since the tax refunds on hold more or less  is that why we're still yet to get a direct deposit form our stimulus check. Ughhh Everytime I start trying to figure this out I get so frustrated bc I end up just. Going in circles on the internet . And I heard the IRS has a call center where u can talk to live person and called so many times choose every option and one time it randomly put me on a hold but I feel asleep and dropped the f'ing phone  and lost the call is that how they do it just choose random caller to get a chance at a live it's agent

@Dsb17

Federal and state refunds come from completely separate entities,  There is no rule as to which one will come first or how much time there will be between their arrivals.

TurboTax gives you an estimated date for receiving your refund based on a 21 day average from your date of acceptance, but it can take longer.  Many refunds are taking longer during the pandemic.

Once your federal return has been accepted by the IRS, only the IRS has any control. TurboTax does not receive any updates from the IRS. Your ONLY source of information about your refund now is the IRS.

You need your filing status, your Social Security number and the exact amount  (line 20 of your Form 1040) of your federal refund to track your Federal refund:

To track your state refund:

If you chose to have your TurboTax fees deducted from your federal refund, that will take some extra time, while the third party bank handles the refund processing.

I understand that they come from different places but this shouldn’t cause a 4+ month difference on their arrival time, I could be wrong but something seems a bit fishy 😂😂
