Question

I filed my taxes and claimed that I was independent, that wrong and I should have filed as dependent. I made amendments but what do I do with the returns I have recieved?

Do you mean your refund?

If you prepared, printed, signed and mailed in your amendment, it will show a balance due if you owe any of your refund back. Check line 20 of the Form 1040X. If there is an amount there, you need to repay that amount of tax on or before July 15, 2020.

If line 20 is blank or $0, you can keep your entire refund.
