Question

I filed my taxes (state and federal) on the 6th of February. I’m in Colorado and my state return still hasn’t been accepted. Why is it taking so long?

I know the star didn’t open up the submissions until the 12th but we are past that now even. My federal was accepted right away. What is the delay with state and how long should this take? I’m well past 48 hours since submission.

We have confirmed that TurboTax Colorado tax returns were released, and are in the Agency's pipeline awaiting processing from the state. You can check that your return was received by Colorado using these instructions:

Check the Electronic Postmark of your Return

Pay close attention to the separate lines for Federal and State. They are separate statuses.

Colorado has acknowledged they have a backlog in accepting returns and has asked taxpayers to be patient and allow the Agency time to process the large number of returns that came through to them all at the same time.

They are processing them in the order they were received.
