Question

I got the $1,400 stimulus but my Mom also got $1,400 for me. I filed my taxes independently this year for the first time. Did the IRS or I make a mistake?

That's ok if you both got it.  You got it based on your 2020 return and she must have got it based on 2019 when she claimed you.  You can both keep it.

Are you sure she didn't get her own $1400?

But your screen name suggest that you are (or were) a student, so are you sure you qualify to be independent for 2020?   How old were you on 12/31/2020?

yeah, she got $2,800 total so it was mine and hers. I was 20 on that date but I'm financially independent and don't live with her.
