I HAD MY FOUNDATION DONE LAST YEAR. CAN I WRITE OFF THE COAST?

Are you building a house?  Or are your repairing a home?  In general, repairs or the building of a for more information. new home, the costs all go to the cost basis of your home and is a non deductible expense.   Please see IRS Publication 551 for more information.

 

If it is investment property, these costs can be re-captured through depreciation.  Please see IRS Publication 946 for more information.
