Question

I have already e-filed my Federal and state (Georgia). I just noticed I put the federal treasury interest in box 1 of the 1099-INT, do I need to amend federal and state?

This will reduce my Georgia taxes owed by about $1300 if I put the federal treasury interest in box 3

    Yes, you can amend GA.

Amending the Fed part won't really be necessary, since the $$ end up the same for the IRS....they even just show up on the same interest line 2b on the 1040, and the Feds don't want any amended tax forms filed with them where the $$ didn't change.

You might be able to start an amended GA tax return first.....then, once that is started, you go to the Federal section and move those 1099-INT $$ from box 1 to box 3.  You might have to print-mail in the GA forms....not sure what the software allows in this situation.

BUT...don't prepare and file the GA amended tax forms until GA actually processes your original file...and you have paid the original tax due (or received their refund)
