Solved

I have already filed my taxes. Today I received a corrected 1098 from my bank. The mortgage interest has not changed but the info in box 2 has. Do I need to refile?

No, the IRS does not use the principal balance of your mortgage in its calculations and you do not need to amend your return.

You should however keep that Form for your records.
