Question

I have always received a state refund and (due to being in the hospital) I am just now completing my 2018 taxes and it says I owe $1,666!!! Help!

I can’t understand where the difference is coming from. I did sell my house (at a loss) and bought a house. Other than that I did have to also withdraw my IRA which was $6,200 for medical expenses. I can’t see where there is major a difference in my side-by-side run down. Thank you!

No one can see your tax returns or any of your information.   You have not mentioned your state so we do not know if you are in a state that taxes retirement income. You say you took money from an IRA.     Have you tried printing out your 2017 and 2018 state returns and laying them side by side to look for the difference(s)?   Have you double checked all the entries made from lines 16 and 17 of any W-2's you entered?
