I have in state tax due of $499 which has never been the case with no resident or job change. What would be the cause of this?

In state tax of $499 which I’ve never had before. Haven’t moved or changed jobs, legit no change. What would be the cause of this?

First--check everything you entered from your W-2(s) and make sure the amounts you entered for state income and state tax withheld were entered correctly---look for typos, misplaced decimals and/or extra zeros.

Compare your 2018 W-2 to your 2019 W-2---is there a big difference in boxes 15 -17 in them?
