Question

I have not filed my return for a few years now. I did not work for all of 2023. I do nor have my w2 from prior years. How do I file?

    You should get copies from your previous employers (the FREE option).    If you have not filed a return for those years, the IRS will not have copies of your actual W-2s.   Social Security Administration (SSA) can provide copies for a fee, currently $62 each.   Go to SSA

     

    You can get a wage and income transcript, containing the Federal tax information your employer reported to the Social Security Administration (SSA), by visiting the IRS's Get your tax records and transcripts page.   Transcripts are free, but won't provide any state/local information.
