Question

I haven't received my unemployment 1099 yet and I have to file my taxes before the deadline, I was wondering can I file my taxes without it. I really need the money

It would be in your best interest to get the Form 1099-G for the unemployment compensation from your state.

You should be able to contact your state unemployment department or the department of labor for your state to get the Form 1099-G.

The IRS knows you received the unemployment since they receive a copy of the Form 1099-G from your state so expect to see the compensation entered on your federal tax return even if up to $10,200 of the compensation is going to be excluded from your taxable income.
