Question

I just submitted my tax returns a few days ago then today I received a 1099-R for 401k funds I transferred when I left my job. How can I amend my returns and resubmit?

If the IRS rejects your return, you can add your 1099-R and resubmit.

If you filed your return already and it was accepted by the IRS, file an amended return.

The amendment form, Form 1040-X, is not ready in TurboTax. It’s expected to be ready around Feb. 23.

If you originally filed your return with TurboTax, we can help streamline the steps outlined above.

If you used TurboTax Online, simply login to your account and select “Amend a return that was filed and accepted.”

If you used our CD/download product, sign back into your return and select “Amend a filed return.”

If you transferred via custodian (Code G on 1099-R) you don't have to amend.
