I'm and expatriate and have been for the entire year of 2019. How can I deduct my wages earned from my california income tax?

If you are a resident of California, then you have to file a tax return there and pay the tax due. If you are no longer a resident of California, then you do not have to file a tax return there.

 

You don't have to be present in the state to be considered a resident. Your resident state is the state you will return to if you are away temporarily.
