I'm filing for my first stimulus that I never received. I was told by an IRS employee that I can file early then amend the filing. How soon will I receive the payment?

I am eligible for the payment. I was told I was passed over for the payment because of one or two things from my 2019 filing.

suggest not worrying about an amendment.

On the 2020 tax return, there is a 'settle up' section where it'll figure out how much stimulus you are due and provide that as an additional refund. Look at Line 30 of Form 1040. Everything is based on 2020 tax return so prior years don't matter

I wouldn't rush to file as the 2nd stimulus payment laws were just passed this week and the IRS and Turbo Tax need time to program everything. Be sure you are comfortable with the amount on Line 30 before hitting the 'send' button.
