Question

I'm getting the response that I didn't file my 2019 income tax. I did file and got notice that it was accepted. I got my state refund. I did not get my federal refund.

Was there also a refund for 2018 that I didn't receive. Perhaps my accountant left it to pay the 2019 income tax in case that was the situation, but I didn't owe any for 2019 and was told I would get a refund from Turbotax.

From where are you getting a response that you did not file a 2019 return?  Are you looking in the wrong account?

Many people have multiple TT accounts and forget how to access them.  Log out of the account you are in now.

Or did you use the desktop version of TurboTax?  If so, the files are on your own hard drive or any backup device you used like a flash drive.

If you e-filed federal and state 2019 returns:

Federal and state refunds come from completely separate entities,  There is no rule as to which one will come first or how much time there will be between their arrivals.

TurboTax gives you an estimated date for receiving your refund based on a 21 day average from your date of acceptance, but it can take longer.  Many refunds are taking longer during the pandemic.

Once your federal return has been accepted by the IRS, only the IRS has any control. TurboTax does not receive any updates from the IRS. Your ONLY source of information about your refund now is the IRS.

You need your filing status, your Social Security number and the exact amount  (line 20 of your Form 1040) of your federal refund to track your Federal refund:

To track your state refund:

If you chose to have your TurboTax fees deducted from your federal refund, that will take some extra time, while the third party bank handles the refund processing.
