I'm out of town and can't access my 2017 taxes. Can I get an extension

Keep in mind that IRS extensions for tax year 2018 must be filed on or before these deadlines: 

  • April 15, 2019 for domestic taxpayers (April 17, 2019 for Maine and Massachusetts residents)
  • June 17, 2019 for taxpayers outside the country
