We cannot see your return so we are unable to provide you with that information. However, I can show you where to find it.

    • If you filed a Form 1040, the Refund Amount is shown on Line 20a.
    • If you filed a Form 1040NR, the Refund Amount is shown on Line 73a.
    • If you filed a Form 1040NR-EZ, the Refund Amount is shown on Line 23a.
    • If you filed a Form 1040PR, the Refund Amount is shown on Line 13a.
    • If you filed a Form 1040SS, the Refund Amount is shown on Line 13a.

Additionally, be certain you are choosing the correct filing status.

    • If you filed a Form 1040, the Filing Status is shown on the top of the form above your name and social security number.
    • If you filed a Form 1040NR, the Filing Status is shown on Page 1, Boxes 1 through 6
    • If you filed a Form 1040NR-EZ, the Filing Status is shown on Page 1, Boxes 1 through 2
    • If you filed a Form 1040PR, the Filing Status is shown on Page 1, Part 1 Line 1
    • If you filed a Form 1040SS, the Filing Status is shown on Page 1, Part 1 Line 1

When going onto track my refund and it asks for refund amount do i put my total with state or just federal?

It depends upon which refund you are trying to track.

The federal and state returns are processed by different agencies.

Therefore, if you are trying to track your federal return, you will use the amounts from your federal return only (Form 1040).

If you are trying to track your state return, you will use the amounts from your state return.

@sdogg84 You need your 2021 AGI--not your refund.   In order to e-file 2022 you need the AGI from line 11 of your 2021 Form 1040.

Where do I find my AGI?

Your 2021 tax return shows your 2021 Adjusted Gross Income  (AGI)  If you filed a joint return then the AGI is the same for each of you.

    Form 1040        line 11

If you are using the same TT account that you used last year, you should also be able to find this number in your Tax Home for 2021

If entering the amount from your 2021tax return does not work, then try entering “0” instead.  If that does not work and you still cannot e-file, then print, sign, and mail your tax return.

You can get a free transcript of your past return from the IRS:

Note: If you filed late or amended your return, your correct 2021 AGI may not be in the system.

Note:  If you mail your federal return, you will also need to mail your state return.  You will not be able to e-file your state return.

If you filed a Federal return Form 1040, look at your Form 1040, Line 35a.
